ComAp focuses on the quality and safety of its products. Therefore, testing, inspection, and certification are integral parts of product development and market introduction. Testing and evaluation already begin during the development phase. For these purposes, ComAp operates its own testing laboratory, where it can independently perform most of the relevant tests. All measuring devices are regularly checked and calibrated. To verify results and obtain certifications, ComAp cooperates with various accredited laboratories, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
ComAp tests and evaluates the compliance of its products with the requirements of relevant EU and government directives and standards. The EU Declaration of Conformity is a document issued by ComAp that demonstrates the product’s compliance has been properly assessed and that it meets all applicable requirements. In addition to issuing the Declaration of Conformity, the product is marked with the CE mark — a graphic symbol representing conformity with harmonised technical standards. Both the CE marking and the EU Declaration of Conformity are essential requirements for placing products on the EU market.
The UKCA marking is the product marking used for products placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales). ComAp evaluates the compliance of its products with the requirements of designated standards introduced in the UK to replace EU harmonised standards. The UKCA mark on ComAp products confirms that they meet applicable regulations related to health, safety, and environmental protection in Great Britain.
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is one of the world’s leading independent organisations for the safety testing and certification of materials, components, and products. Unlike the CE marking, the UL marking is not legally required. However, it is a highly important certification, especially in the North American market, where wholesalers may refuse to supply a product without the UL Mark, authorities may decline to approve installations lacking a recognised test seal, and insurance companies may deny claims if an inspector determines that a fire was caused by a product that was not UL certified.
Product safety and reliability are important priorities for ComAp. That is why ComAp ensures its products comply with applicable safety requirements and submits them for testing by UL. UL certifies that ComAp’s products meet the required standards and awards the UL Mark. Not only new products, but also production processes and existing products that undergo modifications must be tested by UL in order to carry the UL Mark. The test seal serves as proof to users that the product meets a high safety standard, as UL defines safety requirements in much greater detail than IEC standards and also verifies compliance independently. UL Listed and UL Recognised markings are not the same—UL Recognised applies to components, while UL Listed applies to stand-alone products.
While both UL Listed and UL Recognised markings ensure compliance with industry standards, they apply to different types of products and serve different purposes. UL Listed certification involves more extensive testing. It indicates that the product meets industry and safety standards and has passed UL’s full battery of tests for its intended use. Products certified to safety-related standards are evaluated for reasonably foreseeable hazards, including fire, electric shock, and mechanical failure. UL certification reflects our commitment to consumer safety and the high quality of our products.
The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) is a technically based non-governmental organisation consisting of twelve member marine classification societies.
Marine classification is a system designed to promote the safety of life, property, and the environment, primarily through the development and enforcement of technical and engineering standards for the design, construction, and life-cycle maintenance of ships, offshore units, and other marine-related equipment. These standards are set out in the rules established by each classification society.
Although IACS is a non-governmental organisation, it plays an active role within the International Maritime Organization (IMO), providing technical support and guidance, and developing unified interpretations of international statutory regulations issued by IMO member states. Once adopted, these interpretations are applied by each IACS member society when certifying compliance with the regulations on behalf of the relevant flag states.
ComAp develops and manufactures its products for the marine industry in accordance with the standards and rules established by IACS and its member societies. We cooperate with eight of the twelve IACS certification agencies, which oversee the design, testing, and production of our marine products and certify them through Type Approval Certificates, Workshop Approval of production, and Design Approval.
Our products are developed, manufactured, and tested, among other criteria, in accordance with the rules of UR E10 and UR E22. We are currently working to include and evaluate compliance with UR E26 and UR E27.
The world is becoming increasingly connected, with more communication possibilities than ever before. This is especially true in the energy control industry, where remote access is becoming the norm for greater operational flexibility. Remote monitoring and control help users save time and money while providing reliable data to support critical business decisions.
However, this increased connectedness also raises the need for stronger security measures to prevent harmful cyberattacks. At ComAp, we take cybersecurity seriously and continuously enhance our solutions and products with new features to protect your data and equipment.
