The O2 Arena in Prague is one of the leading entertainment facilities in Europe with a seating capacity of up to 18,000 people. Every year, the O2 Arena hosts dozens of sporting events, live concerts and other cultural functions. It was opened in 2004 for the Ice-Hockey World Championship and since that time, it has welcomed over 600,000 people every year. ComAp has ensured a backup power system that ensures reliable power for all these events.

There are two backup gen-sets for the arena. The gen-sets need to operate in parallel, with both each other and the mains. Phoenix-Zeppelin, the Perkins dealer for the Czech Republic, approached ComAp to provide them with a new control system using ComAp products.

Each gen-set has an InteliGen NT BaseBox controller connected to an InteliVision 5 colour display. The mains power is controlled by an InteliMains NT BaseBox controller connected to an InteliVision 5 colour display. The whole site is monitored and controlled on an InteliVision 17Touch display in the control room. The system is monitored using InteliMonitor via the InternetBridge NT communication unit for text message notifications and connection to WebSupervisor – ComAp’s cloud-based monitoring application.
